ridin

Who else just went through a week of hell?
I just had the busiest, most hectic school week, even though it was just a four day one!
To top it off, I am still sick from September..
On the bright side, it's over, and I finally got my iPhone!
So expect some instagram pics. Once I figure out how to do it..

Anyways..
I told you how my aunt loves to take us places. Well this time she took us to the famed Sevva for high tea.
Now, you have to know that in my family, high tea is the favourite and activity of choice.
Sevva has been a tradition for us the past couple times we've been to Hong Kong.
We love the view and their cakes and those mini sliders!
But as their popularity grew, we noticed that their service has gotten a little bit too snobby for our liking.
But, if you haven't been before,
going just to experience once wouldn't hurt
and if anything, go to try their Marie Attoinette cake!

Look at that crazy cotton-candy topped, macaron decorated pistachio cake filled with creme and cherries.
This was the cake two years ago before we destroyed it.
I think the cotton candy has gotten even taller over the years!

favouritism

I can't not deny that I'm not spoiled.
But being the favourite nieces does undoubtedly have its perks.
My aunt is the youngest of 7 siblings and just enjoying life in Hong Kong.
Luckily, her form of enjoyment is usually eating or shopping
And she always knows about the hippest or best specialty restaurants.
And me and my sisters are always invited!
This time she insisted on Saboten in Causeway Bay (the SoHo of Hong Kong basically).
This restaurant has been the talk around town for their Japanese cutlets.
You're thinking, Japanese pork cutlets? Does deep-fried things I can get anywhere?
Oh but it's so much more, my dears.
First, you're given a bowl of seasame seeds and a wooden stick that acts as a pestle, which you can grind to add to your tonkatsu sauce. I get to play with my food? This place is an A in my books already.
Then with every set you order, you get a huge sharing bowl piled high with crispy cabbage salad that was perfect and refreshing for a dinner of fried stuff.
This place has every katsu you can ever imagine. Scallops, shrimp, chicken, thinly sliced pork stuffed with asaparagus, pork with lots of cracked pepper (one of the best dish, in my opinion)..
But, my favourite was the tiger prawns that were bigger than the size of my face.
And I got one all to myself!

Unfortunately, I am a million miles away from Hong Kong now and am reduced to drooling over my pictures. But if you're in HK/going to visit soon, I recommend a trip here.

ho hey

More of the local fare from Singapore.
It actually almost makes me cry just looking at these pictures. I wish food could teleport.

There's nothing better than a hot Singaporean breakfast. Whether it is fried beehoon (rice noodles), or my fav half boiled  eggs and kaya (sweet coconut jam) toast. The eggs are barely boiled, so you crack them into the bowl all runny and delicious and mix it all up with soy sauce and white pepper. ONOMNOM
Then for lunch, you can hop over to your favourite/nearest hawker centre, in this case we went to the best kway teow stall (so she says) in Singapore across from Great World City. Me and my friend over ordered on fried kway teow (wide rice noodles), oyster omelette and fried carrot (turnip) cake as usual.
Next meal up: dinner. My sister and I headed to the famous Chomp Chomp hawker centre for our last hawker food before we flew to Hong Kong. On the menu: everything.
But I only took one picture of the popiah (kinda like a spring roll but 10000x more delicious) and the satay beehoon in the background.
Tissue prata was the best midnight snack. Perfectly crisp and sprinkled with sugar on top, and dipped into curry or the mutton soup.
There you go kiddies. A full day of meals in Singapore. That just made me so sad and nostalgic.
I'm going to eat a bowl of chili and homemade bread to comfort myself.

Our Korner

One night, me and my sister caught up with my aunt and cousin over dinner.
They suggested a cozy little restaurant called Our Korner that serves fusion Singaporean food, which was perfect for our last couple days (of eating) in Singapore.
We started off with their famous Laksa Clam Chowder.
And then each ordered our own main (no sharing for me, duh).
The restaurant itself is quite small with only about 10 tables, so you'll feel right at home here.  I loved the Chilli Crab Linguine with deep-fried soft shelled crab, topped off with an poached egg. But then again, I guess I'm biased since I have a heated love affair with eggs.  Eggs = love.
Our Korner is attached to the Scarlet Hotel; a cute, boutique hotel located in Chinatown where we wandered after dinner.
Like our fam portrait?!

Summertime Sadness

School's hectic right now.
So obviously I would choose this time to post the remaining 1000000 pics of my summer to avoid my workload.
These pictures were from the last couple days I spent in Singapore.
My older sister came to join me, and we spent our days visiting our old haunts & seeing old friends.
It was a glorious week of no work and a lot feasting.
